The main reason we didn't shoot a "plain" historical film is because of the prohibitive costs. I spent a lot of time assembling the look of the main characters to conserve money; this is what i came up with after months of waiting for sales and browsing historical pictures from different periods.

(Trax Colton Jr. in uniform with MG42)
1. Fallschirmjager Helmet:
This reporduction was bought at sportsmanguide.com, IMA sell then and you can also find them on Ebay quite easily from Hong Kong.
2. Throat Mic:
These are real aviation mics from Sweden. Sportsman's Guide
3. German Flak Vest- Sportsman's Guide or Ebay
3.5 Under Shirt:
American GI replica undershirt. Nothing fancy.
4. Fallschirmjager Smock : Sportsman's Guide
This is the WWII patten with 1950's flectarn camo. I love it because it looks like German Oak leaf that is updated. This camo pattern and design never existed in the German Army, BUT it was perfect for this film.
5. Belts: Sportsman's Guide
Belts and all sorts of secondary gear was bought from that website including all the Russian Gear.
6. Pants:
These are American repo parachute pants i got from a local Army Navy store. About $30 bucks each.
7. Boots:
Actors provided their own boots.
I must admit i bought uniforms that never were in the film, at first we were going to shoot in the winter. Sadly, a lot of that gear went to waste since we shot in August... well not waste, it became packing, rags, and burning material for the film. Burning money is always great.... Not really but it was already spent. I also bought 4 or 5 pairs of crappy boots for the dead bodies to "wear"... I don't think you ever see them!
Places to buy Uniforms

I got a LOT of gear from the Sportsman's Guide over months and months. I also bought a member card and it paid for itself many times over. Sign up for thier mailings becasue the hold amazing sepcials (ex- 5 pants for 30 bucks) and they sell out quick. Check back weekly, normal sizes sell out quick.
This is not a Sportsman Guide promo, i just got a lot of stuff there. Hell they should sponsor the film, trust me I've asked...

International Military Antiques has great surplus
Also check Ebay, Army/Navy stores, and online for used gear. I spent many many many hours trying to find items, and there are many many many sites that sell gear. And i found sometimes cool pieces of gear sell out quickly.
