You made it! Alright if you didn't use real guns and real explosions you have many many many hours of work ahead of you. For general program tutorials like Final Cut Pro, Vegas, ect ect I highly suggest buying a subscription to Lynda.com.
Post is great, you get to take all the pieces and see what you forgot..... Then try to fix it! Also this is the last chance to shape and bring your story to life, take your time. I've been in post-production for a year with several "walk away" breaks.
**TIP**
Try demo software as much as you can especially if you are comparing two products. I found that sometimes you can get the same effect by a different company for a lot less money, found out that hyped software can sometimes suck and found news ways to make a better film.
**STORY**
I took my week vacation to shoot the film in 2007, then in 2008 I took my next vacation to get a big start on the visual effects. I have one more week this year and I'm sure it will be movie related. Anyways over nine days, twelve hours plus a day I got the "spine" of 100 effects shots done. Now there is 120something shots and all of them have been reworked at least once if not several times. Try your hardest, give it a rest, then try some more.
